Meet-the Artist Reception Sunday, May 6, 2-4 pm.
The annual exhibit features and eclectic mix of local art and will hang until May 30. It is free and open to the public 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mon-Fri and Saturdays-10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The annual event is sponsored by the Dare County Arts council and was created to honor the show’s namesake, Mollie Fearing, who was a prominent figure in the Manteo community. Fearing helped form the Sea and Sounds Arts Council that evolved into the current Dare County Arts Council. Dare County Arts Council’s 15th Annual Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show Opens Sunday May 6th
Manteo, NC – Dare County Arts Council invites you to the 15th annual Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show! The Annual "Mollies" will feature an eclectic mix of local art on display at the Gallery at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo.
The Opening Reception will be held Sunday, May 6th, 2012 from 2pm-4pm. The reception will feature light fare, libations and live music and is open to all ages of art enthusiasts.
Gallery hours are 9am – 5pm, Monday through Friday, and 10am – 4pm on Saturday; the gallery is closed on Sundays. The last day of the exhibition is May 30th.
The show is open to all artists, 18 years or older, who are residents of Dare County or members of the Dare County Arts Council. Artists can drop off artwork at Roanoke Festival Park on May 1st and 2nd, from 9am to 5pm. Entry fees are $25 for DCAC members and $35 for non-members. Artists can join the Arts Council at the time of delivery.
Judging this year’s show is curator David J. Brown of Winston-Salem, NC. Mr. Brown’s career has included prominent positions at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, the Contemporary Arts Center of Cincinatti and the Maryland Institute College of Art.
