Youth Aviation Day

The Dare County Regional Airport will host the 9th annual Dare County Youth Aviation Day on Saturday, May 12, 2012. Admission is free and the festivities kick off at 10 AM and last until 4:00 PM

This family oriented event is a perfect opportunity to have an up-close encounter with an impressive array of aircraft representing all sizes, shapes, and purposes. There will be military, civilian, and commercial aircraft on display at Youth Aviation Day.

If you would like to take to the sky, local air tour companies will be offering introductory flights at deeply discounted rates such as:

Cessna rides (with up to 3 Passengers) $10.00 per person
Bi-Plane rides (with up to 2 Passengers) $20.00 per person
Helicopter rides (with up to 3 Passengers) $25.00 per person

Other scheduled attractions include Dare MedFlight, the lifesaving helicopter operated by Dare County EMS, along with firefighting aircraft from the North Carolina Forestry Service. There will also be demonstrations of remote control aircraft.

Youth Aviation Day has something for everyone. Try a hang gliding simulator or scale the Kitty Hawk Kites Rock Climbing Wall. There will be an inflatable Bounce House for the younger children to enjoy and food will be available from Deb's Funnel Cakes.
