The noted playwright Edward Albee wrote of the production, "It is probably the finest play ever written by an American." With the high responsibility implied by such an accolade, the ECU production will strive to delve into the great heart of this rich play and bring its treasures to life in a contemporary setting, remaining steadfastly true to the theatrical values expressed by the playwright as well as to the deep human values of the characters and text.
