20th Annual Outer Banks Parade of Homes runs October 4-7,2012

Why do milestones always end in 0 or 5? While we cannot answer that, we can recommend that you join us October 4-7 for our milestone 20th Annual Outer Banks Parade of Homes, brought to you by the members of the Outer Banks Home Builders Association. In light of the nationwide housing downturn, we are most pleased to say that not only are we continuing the Parade tradition, but we are coming back strong! This year we are presenting 21 outstanding homes from the Whalehead subdivision in Corolla to the Nags Head/Manteo Causeway.  Nineteen are newly constructed homes and two are “life-changing” remodeling projects, all set in one of the most picturesque places on the east coast.

We have everything for a successful Parade – except you! Please join us for the four-day tour where you will have the opportunity to visit the 21featured coastal homes on your own timetable; see as many as you can in a day or settle in and absorb the local culture, the shops and restaurants and enjoy the relative calm pace of the off season and gorgeous fall weather with us.  Our home selections feature new designs and many incorporate new technologies, best building practices and ‘green’ features. The furnishings and the finishing touches provide the same welcome that you like to share with visitors to your own home.

The participating builders and associate members of the Outer Banks Home Builders Association hope you will join us for this 20th Annual Parade. And our tour is your tour – all homes are open from Thursday, October 4 through Saturday, October 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, October 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  As you begin your tour, you will learn that life at the beach is interpreted and represented a little bit differently by each homeowner and builder.

For four days you can personally experience the feel of homes that qualify as year-round starter or retirement homes, as well as those homes with comforts and amenities that rival a five-star resort. Live here, visit here, collect rents from those who do - whatever your need, one of these 21 homes is sure to fill that need! Even in the midst of a trend that has turned to an emphasis on efficiency and functionality, you still will see many “bells and whistles” in the vacation homes – theater rooms, media centers, pools and spas, outdoor entertaining areas, elevators and game rooms all remain as “must haves” for the rental market.

Our participating builder members, their staff members and suppliers will be in the homes until 6 p.m. each day except on Sunday, when the 2012 Parade wraps up at 3 p.m. Your $10.00 ticket may be purchased in advance by mail, at any of the homes or at select ticket outlets. Your ticket is valid for all four days of the event and ticket proceeds will go to support the local food pantry.  Just after Labor Day, you will be able to preview the entire Parade at your convenience on our website www.obhomebuilders.org or you may call the Outer Banks Home Builders Association at 252-449-8232 for more information.

And remember, if you are thinking about building a home, there is no better time than NOW! Timing the market is a game you can’t win. With today’s interest rates remaining low, competitive pricing and great selection, NOW is the time to build your dream home. New homes carry about 100 years worth of total warranty when you unlock that door. There’s no reason to wait to make your move. Don’t miss out on today’s real estate market!
