The Dare County North Carolina Missions of Mercy (NCMOM)Free Adult Dental Clinic is an annual event, held in the fall at the Dare County Youth Center in Kill Devil Hills. The two day clinic provides free dental services to adults in Dare County. It is a partnership between the Healthy Carolinians of the Outer Banks and the NC Dental Society.

In October of 2008, Dr. Steve Slott, DDS brought the idea of hosting a dental clinic to Dare County Health Director, Anne Thomas. Thomas embraced the idea of ensuring access to dental care for people who would not otherwise receive such services and presented the idea to the Healthy Carolinians of the Outer Bank's (HCOB) Access to Health Care Taskforce, requested their partnership on the project. The HCOB Access to Health Care Taskforce enthusiastically agreed and the first clinic was hosted in October of 2009. Over the past three years, the Dare County NCMOM clinic has assisted over 2,250 people in need and provided dental services with a value of over one million dollars.

"The exceptional work of our Healthy Carolinians of the Outer Banks' Taskforces continues to touch our community. The continuation of the event has occurred due to the dedication and hard work of a group of volunteers," commented Health Director, Anne Thomas, "The NCMOM clinic is an example of the power behind partnership and collaboration. We are grateful to the community volunteers, NC Dental Society and the Healthy Carolinians of the Outer Banks Access to Health Care's MOM Committee for their continued work in serving those in need in our community."

This year's clinic will be hosted on November 2-3 at the Youth Center and Family Recreation Park located at 602 South Mustian Street in Kill Devil Hills. Cleanings, fillings and extractions are a few of the services to be offered on a first come first serve basis. Registration begins at 6:00 AM.
