The traditional Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Historic Site & Museum “End of Season Festivities” were modified due to the effects of Hurricane Irene of last year. That turned out to be a silver lining, for the event went better and smoother than ever! So this year will be a repeat of those procedures.
The Site will open that Friday, November 23 at 10:00 AM as usual. Santa will be “holding court” later that day in the Keeper’s Room of the 1911 Station (pictured) from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. There will be staff and volunteers to guide you the right way. It is an exciting event for all of us and we will all be having a good time. But remember, only if you have been good all year will you get to see Santa, and he knows if you’ve been good or bad, so you better watch out!
As a benefit to the community, there will be FREE ADMISSION to this event, with one non-perishable item per person for the Hatteras Island Food Bank. This also includes free self-guided tours of the 1911 Life-Saving Station and to the 1911 Cookhouse, or “kitchen,” as the Surfman called it.
As a benefit to the nonprofit museum, take advantage of the Big Sale in the Gift Shop, and/or consider giving a generous donation in the spirit of the Season, which is tax-deductible, as a benefit to you! If you really want to be part of the Team, ask about a Membership.
