In 1584, 23 years before the Jamestown settlement, the dream of an English-speaking nation began on the shores of Roanoke Island. Learn this important part of our nation’s history--and the fascinating role Roanoke Island has played in other periods of time--during your visit to Festival Park. Here, learning is fun! In our many venues, hear a sailor’s tales of a strange New World, site a star with an astrolabe, enter an Algonquian longhouse, climb aboard a spritsail skiff and hoist her sails, learn about lighthouses and lifesaving, experience duck hunting and so much more!
The Elizabeth II A representation of one of the seven English ships from the Roanoke Voyage of 1585. Climb aboard and help set the sails, plot your course and swab the decks!
Settlement Site Live the life of a 16th century settler. Try a straw and feather beds, woodworking, and games. See the blacksmith fashion his 16th century wares.
American Indian Town and Cultural Education Center Featuring opportunities for guests to learn about the vital and vibrant culture, heritage, and traditions of the American Indians in our region. It also includes a wide variety of true-to-scale structures, role-play environments, and places to explore, plant, dance, build and play.
Roanoke Adventure Museum Explore 400 years of Outer Banks history in the interactive museum, fun for all ages!
Legend of Two-Path A 45 minute docu-drama about the American Indians.
Art Gallery Enjoy the on-site Art Gallery, with monthly changing exhibits. Talented local, state and regional artists working in a variety of mediums and styles participate in solo and group shows.

Roanoke Island Maritime Museum and the George Washington Creef working boathouse offers a look at local and regional maritime heritage through displayed watercraft, exhibits, restoration projects, and traditional skills workshops. Just a block away
Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse The Outer Banks newest lighthouse is also it’s smallest. Instead of a brick beacon towering over a barrier-island beach, this lighthouse is more akin to a lightkeeper’s house perched over the water. Just a block away, next to the Roanoke Island Maritime Museum.
