Accounting Manager

The Roanoke Island Historical Association (RIHA), producer of The Lost Colony, seeks an Accounting Manager. This position requires a self-starter to develop and maintain sound accounting practices and procedures in accordance with good accounting practices and legal requirements.

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (preferred)
  • Extensive Bookkeeping Experience
  • Not for Profit Experience (preferred)
  • Experienced and highly proficient in QuickBooks
  • Experienced and proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Inter-company accounting experience
  • Solid references & excellent interpersonal skills

Duties include: payroll, employment records; monthly bank account reconciliation; monthly investment account reconciliation; annual audit; monthly and annual production of financial statements; payables; monthly billings and invoicing for various entities; audit box office, merchandise, program sales and fundraising activities with deposits; audit grant reports; assisting budget preparation, reviews and analysis; monthly credit card reconciliations; monitor compliance with company credit card procedures; prepare monthly sales tax reports and file bi-annual sales tax refund; year-end member billing updates; accounting for SIMPLE program; valuation of other than cash donations; and other duties as may be assigned.

Assist the Chief Executive Officer in monitoring RIHA financial status and trends; communicate unfavorable trends and conditions or areas of concern as they become known; assist with financial planning, budget development, forecasting, etc. Assist office staff with on-going and project workload; provide backup telephone support; provide assistance with departmental spreadsheets and financial analysis

Support the work and vision of RIHA and The Lost Colony by actively assisting with and supporting social events, fundraising activities, auditions, etc.

This position is part-time with potential for full-time employment.
