2018 For the Love of the OBX Award Winners
The “FOR THE LOVE OF THE OBX” award is presented to an individual or individuals who truly love our community and demonstrates that love through their actions.
Thanks to First National Bank, Stuart Bell and Karol Rhodes for sponsoring this important award this year. Two awards were given this year.
Harry Schiffman, Oregon Inlet Task Force
The first “for the Love of the OBX” award for 2018 is being presented to Harry Schiffman. Over the years Harry has worked tirelessly to educate the public on the importance of this critical waterway and keeping it open for our commercial fishing fleet. Harry understands the economic impact of the inlet to the Outer Banks; Harry serves on the Oregon Inlet Task Force for Dare County which he has done for several years. He lobbies for this critical part of our infrastructure and spends a great deal of his personal time to help ensure its survival.

Chris and Kathy Seawell
Our second “for the Love of the OBX Award is being presented to Chris & Kathy Seawell. Chris & Kathy support the community through their involvement in a number of organizations including the Roanoke Island Historical Association, Mount Olivet United Methodist Church and more. They quietly support many causes throughout the Outer Banks and never turn down an ask for help. Described as “humble and caring” of the community they love, Chris & Kathy are the definition of “For the Love of the OBX”.
