ESBY Winners 2016
The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce presented the 2016 Entrepreneur and Small Business of the Year Awards Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Jennette’s Pier, Nags Head.
2016 Winners Were:
- Home Based Business of the Year - Kenyon Productions
- Small Business of the Year (10 Employees or Less) - Ocean Sands K9 Resort
- Small Business of the Year (11-50 Employees) - Joe Lamb Jr. & Associates

“The ESBY applications were reviewed and judged by a panel of judges from around the country,” said John Woolard, III of Whichard and Woolard Wealth Management Group and Chamber Board of Director before presenting the awards. “Chamber executives from other states, business consultants with our some of our partners including Small Business Technology Development Center and the Small Business Center were included as judges for this year’s awards. It is quite an honor for these businesses to receive such recognition.”
About Kenyon Productions:
Doug and Jannie Kenyon started their business in 2013 when a hobby became a career. Using their background in marketing to create products that are compelling both technically and artistically, Kenyon Productions has achieved success in the local market. While primarily a video production and photography, they mix a little branding, marketing and public relations into their services. They embrace change and technology.
“Developing videos for several non-profits including the Beach Food Pantry, Interfaith Community Outreach and the Children’s Museum have afforded them the opportunity to give back to the community,” added Woolard.
About Ocean Sands K-9 Resort:
Pam and Paul Anderson purchased Oceans Sands K-9 Resort in 2012 as a struggling business but one that was greatly needed on the Outer Banks. Since that time, they have expanded their boarding/kennel services to include Wedding Paws, the only service on the Outer Banks that assists couples getting married the opportunity to include important fur family members as part of their special day.
Ocean Sands K-9 Resorts stays active in the community through the annual Wags & Whiskers; Woofstock; and the Outer Banks SPCA. Pam also founded the Animal Rescue Funding Project that produces an annual OBX Calendar featuring local rescue dogs and cats with 100% of the proceeds donated to Wags & Whiskers.
About Joe Lamb Jr. & Assocates:
Joe Lamb Jr. & Associates has been family owned and operated for almost 50 years. They represent over 500 rental properties providing those traveling to the Outer Banks with top of the line customer service and above average experiences. Joe Lamb Jr. & Associates began on the basis of family values and has been successful because they honor those principles of trust, loyalty and tradition.
Community involvement with numerous local non-profits include: NEST, the First Flight Baseball team, Outer Banks Sporting Events, Jockey’s ridge State Park, OBX Angel Tree Foundation, the Dare County Arts Council. Each year, they sponsor an annual Taste of the Beach event that generated a great deal of local involvement and revenue for the Outer Banks Restaurant Association which supports local restaurants and provides a culinary scholarship. They value education and established the Ann R. and Joseph T. Lamb Cornerstone Scholarship at UNC Chapel Hill which favors Dare County graduates and can be awarded to up to 8 candidates each year. They have also established a self-supporting scholarship through the Dare County COA which is awarded annually.
