Leadership OBX provides leadership-minded individuals with the opportunity to:

  • Develop interest in the future of the Outer Banks region.
  • Create an environment to inspire community leadership.
  • Broaden community viewpoints.
  • Build leadership skills and build working relationships among class members.
  • Provide for personal growth and development.

Establishing a sense of community and enthusiastic leadership are cornerstones of the program. Chamber President & CEO, Karen Brown, said the program reinforces the Chamber’s commitment to the area and to developing community leaders.

“The Leadership OBX program offers a forum to enlighten and engage current and future leaders of the Outer Banks community,” said Brown. “The program provides opportunities for participants to develop and enhance their understanding of the community.”

Leadership OBX was introduced in 2014 and has successfully graduated a total of 81 community leaders.

Class participants will attend a welcome reception, 2 day retreat, and ten full-day sessions approximately every three weeks from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  The full tuition for the program is $500 which includes the reception, retreat, and all session expenses.
