- Accounting - Tax Manager

Johnson, Mizelle, Straub & Consolvo, LLP – Certified Public Accountants is a well-established CPA firm located in Kitty Hawk, NC. Established in 1973, we are the oldest CPA firm in Dare County and continue to grow through technology, expertise, and exceptional client service.

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of public accounting experience, strong tax preparation and review skills, and experience with Lacerte Tax Software.

This is an in-office position. Candidates must live locally or within a reasonable commuting distance of our Kitty Hawk office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns, including 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, and 1120S.
• Prepare and review tax workpapers and supporting schedules.
• Review staff-prepared returns for accuracy and compliance.
• Research tax issues and assist with tax planning.
• Communicate directly with clients and taxing authorities.
• Manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
• Stay current with federal and state tax laws.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of recent public accounting tax experience
• CPA or Enrolled Agent
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• Lacerte experience preferred.
• Strong experience with individual, estate/trust, partnership, S corporation, and C corporation returns
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Leadership experience
• Ability to work additional hours during tax deadlines
• Must be able to work in our Kitty Hawk office
