Leadership OBX is the premier professional and community leadership program of the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce, designed to connect, educate, and inspire emerging and established leaders across our region.
Since launching in 2014, Leadership OBX has brought together business professionals, entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, educators, public servants, and engaged community members who are passionate about shaping the future of the Outer Banks. Through immersive experiences, meaningful conversations, and hands-on learning, participants gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities, challenges, industries, and people that define our unique coastal community.
The program is designed to cultivate informed, connected, and civic-minded leaders who are prepared to serve on boards, lead organizations, volunteer in the community, and help strengthen the future of the Outer Banks.
Running from late October through mid-April, Leadership OBX includes:
- A welcome reception
- An opening retreat
- Ten full-day leadership sessions focused on key regional topics and industries
- Direct access to community, business, and civic leaders from across the Outer Banks
Throughout the program, participants explore topics including economic development, healthcare, tourism, education, housing, workforce development, government, environmental stewardship, public safety, and regional collaboration.
More than just a leadership course, Leadership OBX creates lasting relationships, meaningful professional connections, and a stronger sense of community. Participants leave with expanded networks, lifelong friendships, and a greater understanding of how they can make a positive impact on the place we all call home.
